Since writing my book, Recreational Dungeness Crabbing, in 2003, a lot has changed in the crabbing world. More people continue to crab up and down the Pacific Coast, and there have been many great gear advancements. Here’s a look at how three pieces of gear I’ve recently used, work.
The Crack’n Crab Cleaner & Gauge is an efficient tool used for measuring and cleaning crabs. When you can’t get those crabs home alive, to cook whole, this tool comes in handy. Or, if worried about contamination of the meat due to heightened levels of biotoxins in an area, this method keeps the meat free of contact of the visceral mass. It’s simply a quick, clean way to clean crabs.
